I was hoping that the RPD would talk to security at the Ralph’s shopping center about people leaving the area with shopping carts. These wind up in various places and mess up the appearance of the neighborhood (although this is much more a problem in the Hardman Center area).

The Website is well done and a welcome addition!

  2. Thanks, Art. I think you make a great point about the shopping carts. It does make the neighborhood look messy and uncared for. And thank you for your kind comments on the website! Hope to meet you at our upcoming meeting. Wendy

I just think that this is great, I did not even know there was a Grand Neighborhood Alliance. My husband and I have lived here for 25 years and I am very concerned about the area, it has taken a dramatic downturn in the last few years. Listed below is a list of items that concern me as a homeowner.

Graffiti-Lots of this sneaking into our area.

Shopping Center at Grand and Jurupa- I feel this is one our biggest problems. Lots of people hanging around, doing who knows what. Vacant stores. The whole center is an eyesore and a blight on our community. To be honest I will not even go to any of the business because it is such a mess. I feel bad for the few stores that are there, but I would love to see the whole center buldozed and the city come up with another idea. We never needed the center in the first place.

There are plenty more issues, but I realize that we need to take a few at a time and work on them. I really hope the City will get behind us and hear our concerns.

    Thank You

I, like Cheryl had no idea we had a Grand Neighborhood Alliance and I have lived in the neighborhood for 12 years. Someone left a small flyer in my mailbox. Whoever did that, thank you. I am looking forward to the meeting.

I think we need to get the absentee landlord to be accountable for this property. My other concerns are questionable traffic to houses which makes it appear to be drug activity, lack of pride in the neighborhood and of course the empty lot with all the homeless hanging around. Love the website!

  6. Bonnie Tovaas says:

I love what has happened hear. I think that all of the points mentioned above are valid and as community members we can make things happen by working together and working with the city. I have seen other neighborhood groups and what they have accomplished is quite impressive. We have already improved our neighborhood just by having this blog! The Grand Neighborhood is truly a Grand Place.!
